How It Works
How long does the floor need to be out of service?
A polyaspartic topcoat typically allows foot traffic within 24 hours and forklift traffic within 48-72 hours. Large areas can be phased so part of the floor stays in use while sections cure. The installer confirms the schedule in the written estimate before work starts.
What happens if we skip the moisture vapor barrier?
High vapor emission causes the coating to blister and delaminate, sometimes within a few months. Remediation means stripping the failed coating and starting over, which costs more than installing the barrier correctly the first time. The on-site assessment includes a moisture test to catch this early.
Can epoxy handle forklift traffic?
A heavy-build system with a polyaspartic topcoat is rated for forklift and pallet-jack loads. The base coat thickness is specified in mils in the written estimate so you know the system matches your actual load requirements.
Do you work on large warehouse floors?
Yes. Large floor areas are handled by phasing the work in sections, keeping part of the facility operational during installation. The installer maps out the phasing plan and includes it in the written scope.
What surface prep is required before coating?
Concrete grinding opens the slab pores for adhesion, and any cracks or spalling are repaired before the base coat goes down. Skipping grinding is the most common reason commercial epoxy peels early. Every estimate lists the prep steps in detail.
Is there a final inspection after the work is done?
Yes. The installer conducts a walk-through with you after full cure time to check adhesion and surface integrity across the entire floor. Any issues identified at that stage are addressed before sign-off.
